Books and films
What happens when beggars decide to go on strike? Aminata Sow Fall’s novel, that has been translated into several languages, including English, tells it all.
Djibril Diop Mambety’s film La Petite vendeuse du soleil is an amazing story of Sili, a small determined girl with polio, who sells newspapers in the streets of Dakar to bring some money home to her grandmother.

The Birdmaker, a short documentary on Mamadou Diedhiou Tall and his art by Cheik Darou Seck, is available online here
Other
Ndiagamar is a school project in Pikine, one of the suburbs of Dakar, Senegal. Run by volunteers, this school makes a difference in the lives of many many boys and girls who otherwise would not have access to education. More information is available here.
