Welcome to my blog!

Whenever I am not going to or coming from Senegal or Ethiopia or some other lovely destination in Africa – or sometimes the Middle East – I try to keep up with the blogging frenzy and post here my random thoughts. I would like to keep my blog entirely free of copy-paste material or too many links so by all means call me old-fashioned :)

I am engaged in promoting, to the best of my knowledge, African cultures, professionally and otherwise. I hope my blog manages to raise awareness of how Africa is a continent of diverse stories – it’s not about suffering and poverty alone.

When I am not writing my PhD, I am selling African traditional craft and colourful urban design through the Porcupine web store. Our products are imported directly from African small businesses and crafts producers according to Fair Trade principles whenever possible. Part of the profit goes straight to Ndiagamar school project in a Dakar suburb in Senegal.

Any suggestions and comments from  you are very welcome – many thanks for dropping by!

Africa is ‘about suffering and poverty alone’ – thanks for that! Yes, Africa is much more and very diverse. Keep on writing about Africa!

Hello, I found your site though Google as it is related to my own travel site. I wanted to ask if you would be interested in a link exchange as I have some high ranking travel blogs many with a PageRank of 3 or more.

I have a list of my sites here: http://www.migranchile.com/mysites.html

I have been swapping links for while now and have found it very beneficial to search engine rankings for everyone. If you are interested just mail me back and I can show you my sites and hopefully give you some links asap.

Thanks for your time.

Dear Jarmo,

I got to you through sociolingo. The NGO I work for has a competition for educational organizations in Africa with a top prize of 10,000 USD and prizes of 1,000USD for the best entry from each country. Do you think you could post about it to help it reach to more organizations in Africa so they have a chance to win? details are on the website I provided.
Please email me if you need further info.
THANKS!
Olga
